Since 2006, Jhamtse Gatsal has grown to become a model Community and Learning Center. With our educational model, we aim to share the lived experience and practices that have transformed our adults to raise changemakers of the future, true contributors to the human community.

Our educational philosophy places the child’s heart, mind, and body at the center. We believe that education must align every child’s potential, developmental needs, and dreams with their talents and abilities.
It must foster holistic learning and expression in academic, social-emotional, artistic, and essential life skills. To fully develop a child’s heart, mind, and body, we utilize:

Learn
Through learning, children gather data, experiences and knowledge by listening, reading, observing and doing.
Reflect
Children analyze and internalize the acquired knowledge through self, peer and group thinking, discussion and debate to understand and make their own meaning. This leads them to cultivate wisdom from their own knowledge and realization.
Engage
From their cultivated realization and wisdom, children internalize the learning to create transformative impact for self and others through active engagement.
